Casey Affleck
Casey AffleckĀ (bornĀ Caleb Casey McGuire Affleck-Boldt; August 12, 1975) is an American actor. He receivesĀ various accolades, including anĀ Academy Award, aĀ British Academy Film Award, and aĀ Golden Globe Award. The younger brother of actorĀ Ben Affleck, he began his career as a child actor, appearing in theĀ PBS television filmĀ Lemon SkyĀ (1988). He later appeared in threeĀ Gus Van SantĀ films:Ā To Die For (1995),Ā Good Will HuntingĀ (1997),Ā GerryĀ (2002), and inĀ Steven Soderbergh'sĀ Ocean's film series (2001ā2007). His first role was inĀ Steve Buscemi's independent comedy-dramaĀ Lonesome JimĀ (2006).
Affleck's breakthrough came in 2007 when he was nominated for theĀ Academy Award for Best Supporting ActorĀ for his performance asĀ Robert FordĀ in the Western dramaĀ The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert FordĀ and starred in his brother's crime dramaĀ Gone Baby Gone. In 2010, he directed the mockumentaryĀ I'm Still Here. He went on to appear inĀ Tower Heist (2011),Ā ParaNormanĀ (2012), andĀ Interstellar(2014), and he received praise for his performance as an outlaw inĀ Ain't Them Bodies SaintsĀ (2013).
In 2016, Affleck starred in the dramaĀ Manchester by the Sea, in which his performance as a grieving man earned him theĀ Academy Award for Best Actor. He has since starred in the dramasĀ A Ghost StoryĀ (2017) andĀ The Old Man & the GunĀ (2018) and asĀ Boris PashĀ in the biographical thrillerĀ OppenheimerĀ (2023), his highest-grossing release.
