Tyrese Gibson
Tyrese Darnell GibsonĀ (born December 30, 1978)Ā is an AmericanĀ R&BĀ singer and actor fromĀ Los Angeles, California. He signed withĀ RCA RecordsĀ in 1998 and released his debut single, "Nobody Else", in August of that year. It peaked within the top 40 of theĀ BillboardĀ Hot 100. It preceded hisĀ self-titled debut albumĀ (1998), which receivedĀ platinumĀ certification by theĀ Recording Industry Association of AmericaĀ (RIAA) and spawned his second top 40 single, "Sweet Lady".
His second and third albums,Ā 2000 WattsĀ (2001) andĀ I Wanna Go ThereĀ (2002), receivedĀ certifications from the RIAA. The latter was led by the single "How You Gonna Act Like That", which peaked at number seven on theĀ BillboardĀ Hot 100 and remains his highest-charting song. His fourth album,Ā Alter EgoĀ (2006), exploredĀ hip hopĀ under the pseudonym Black Ty, while his fifth album,Ā Open InvitationĀ (2011), was nominated forĀ Best R&B AlbumĀ at theĀ 55th Annual Grammy Awards. Gibson's sixth album,Ā Black RoseĀ (2015), debuted atop theĀ BillboardĀ 200.
Gibson has sold over 4 million singles and albums in the United States.Ā Gibson had his first starring role inĀ John Singleton'sĀ coming-of-ageĀ hood film Baby BoyĀ (2001) and gained widespread recognition asĀ Roman PearceĀ in theĀ Fast & FuriousĀ franchise. Gibson reunited with Singleton for the action filmĀ Four BrothersĀ (2005) and plays Robert Epps in theĀ TransformersĀ franchise. He appeared in the comedy filmĀ Ride Along 2Ā (2016) and the superhero filmĀ MorbiusĀ (2022).
